Bring any relevant medical records, a list of medications, and questions you want answered. If you’re having an ultrasound, Dr Tan will let you know if any special preparation is needed beforehand.

Following a GP visit for pelvic pain, irregular or heavy periods, fertility concerns or any other women’s health issues, you’re encouraged to book a consultation early to get the support you need.

4. Do I need a referral to book an appointment?

Yes, you will need a referral from your GP in order to make an appointment.

Dr Yasmin Tan performs a range of gynaecological surgeries, including laparoscopic procedures for endometriosis, ovarian cysts and fibroids, as well as hysteroscopic and vulval surgeries, with a focus on minimally invasive techniques and personalised care.

7. Will I need to stay overnight in the hospital?

10. Will you be doing my surgery?

Yes, I will personally perform your surgery. As your specialist, I believe in providing continuity of care from consultation through to your procedure and recovery. You can feel confident knowing that the surgeon you've consulted with and trust will be the one taking care of you in the operating room.

11. What are the risks of surgery?

Dr Tan believes in honest communication and will discuss any possible risks and how she works to minimise them, answering all your questions along the way.

12. How can I manage pain or discomfort after my treatment?

You’ll be recommended safe and effective pain relief strategies and advice to help you recover as smoothly and comfortably as possible.

13. Do you offer non-surgical treatment options?

Yes, I always explore non-surgical options first whenever possible. Many gynecological conditions can be effectively managed with medications, hormone therapy, lifestyle changes or minimally invasive treatments. Surgery is only recommended when it's truly necessary or when other treatments haven't provided adequate relief. We'll discuss all available options so you can make the best choice for your situation.

14. Can I ask questions or get a second opinion?

Absolutely. Dr Tan welcomes your questions and supports you in making confident decisions about your care. If you want a second opinion, she will assist you with that too.

Accessibility and parking information

Prince of Wales Hospital

Parking is available 24/7 via Barker Street and Hospital Road. For convenient access to the hospital, park on Level B4, which offers direct lift access to Levels 5, 6, and 7 of the private hospital .

Limited free mobility parking spaces are available at the High and Barker Street entrances, near the Catherine Hayes Building and outside Emergency. These spaces require a valid mobility parking permit. Additional mobility parking is available on Level B1 of the car park

BMA House

BMA House offers several parking options for patients.

  • Secure Parking at 131 Macquarie Street: This is the nearest parking facility, situated just next door.

  • Wilson Parking at 131 Macquarie Street: A commercial parking station offering paid parking options.

  • Sydney Eye Hospital Parking: Located a couple of blocks away with entry via Hospital Road. Standard parking rates apply.

The BMA building offers lift access to all floors.
